The LEHM 2004 – a review of a successful conference!
The Lehm 2004 took place from the 27th to 30th October 2004 in conjunction with the denkmal 2004 trade fair for restoration and conservation. Organised by the non-profit organisation the Dachverband Lehm e.V. together with ICOMOS, the International Council on Monuments and Sites, the event consisted of two parts: a trade fair and conference. The conference focussed on increasing awareness of and the conservation of world heritage made of earth and clay and means in which this building material can resist earthquake damage. The trade fair provided an overview of earthen building materials and associated services from Germany and abroad and the Dachverband Lehm e.V. were present for the first time in their own right with a new trade fair stand. As special attraction, a replica 1:10 scale model of the North African Kasbah Asslim, a Berber fortress in Morocco, was built using earthen materials over the duration of the trade fair.
